Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Introduction

Billhop is committed to the prevention of modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. As a financial institution, we recognize our role in combating these serious crimes. This statement outlines our approach and the steps we are taking to ensure that modern slavery is not occurring within our company or within our supply chains.

Although Billhop at this stage does not meet the legal criteria to have a mandatory Modern Slavery statement, it has been created for ethical reasons.

Our Commitment

Billhop is dedicated to conducting our business ethically, integrity and transparency. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking, and we expect the same high standards from our contractors, suppliers, and business partners.

About Billhop

Billhop is authorised in both Sweden and in the United Kingdom.

Billhop AB is a Payments Institution licensed by, and under the supervision of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen FI identification no. 45531).

Billhop UK is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under Firm Reference Number (998735).

Billhop offers working capital or tail-end solutions  and is able to offer flexible payment solutions that can allow corporates to leverage their existing commercial cards programmes. Enterprise clients can pay their supplier invoices via their existing credit card where their supplier does not accept credit cards or where it’s beneficial for the customer to use their credit card. Billhop pays the supplier through a bank-to-bank transfer. We work with a diverse range of suppliers and partners globally.

Policies and Procedures

To combat modern slavery and human trafficking, we have implemented the following policies and procedures:

  1. Modern Slavery Policy: This policy outlines our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It sets out the responsibilities of our employees, suppliers, and partners in identifying and addressing these risks.
  2. Code of Conduct: Our Code of Conduct sets out the ethical standards and behaviors expected of all employees, including a commitment to human rights and fair labor practices.
  3. Whistleblowing Policy: This policy provides a mechanism for employees and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical practices anonymously (if preferred) and confidentially without fear of retaliation.

Risk Assessment and Due Diligence

We conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate the risks of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains. Our due diligence processes include:

  • Supplier Risk Assessment: We evaluate the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking as part of our supplier onboarding and review process.
  • Supplier Audits: We conduct audits of high-risk suppliers to ensure compliance with our modern slavery policies and standards.
  • Contractual Obligations: We include clauses in our contracts with suppliers that require them to adhere to our modern slavery policy and to take steps to prevent modern slavery in their operations.

Training and Awareness

We provide training to our employees to ensure they understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking and know how to identify and report concerns. Training includes:

  • Induction Training: All new employees receive training on our modern slavery policy and the importance of ethical business practices.
  • Ongoing Training: Regular training sessions for employees to reinforce their understanding of modern slavery risks and reporting mechanisms.

Monitoring and Reporting

We regularly monitor the effectiveness of our policies and procedures in combating modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes:

  • Annual Review: We review and update our modern slavery policies and procedures annually to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
  • Reporting Mechanisms: We encourage employees and stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery through our whistleblowing channels. All reports are investigated promptly, and appropriate action is taken.

Looking Ahead

Billhop is committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery and human trafficking. We will continue to enhance our policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure we effectively address these issues. We will also engage with our suppliers and partners to promote ethical practices and to prevent modern slavery in our supply chains.
